Tunic, exercise tunic
Red tunic. A paper band reading 'TUNICS WERE WORN BEFORE LEOTARDS', is pinned in the front part of the tunic. Worn with matching knickers.
These Keep Fit Association exercise clothes, which include a tunic and knickers and a leotard, demonstrate how sportswear has developed and become subject to fashion. The replacement of the tunic by the leotard also symbolised changes in the association's practice and its development of Laban-based movement.
Laban Movement Analysis, which was devised by Rudolf Laban, is a system and language for observing, describing and notating all forms of movement.
