Printed Ephemera — 1841-1860
Card, valentine card
Small sample valentine's card with a lace paper top sheet heavily embossed with a design incorporating trees, foliage, cherubs firing arrows at a target and two lovers seated in a garden chair. This decoration forms a border around a central plain, oval shaped panel. One of six cards applied to a sheet of paper handwritten with Jonathan King's original notes 'I believe to be Kershaw's Wilderness Row Clerkenwell page 79'. This is a sample card only and would have been handfinished and coloured prior to retailing.
