Damage to Lower Thames Street caused by a V-1 'flying bomb', 26th June 1944
This photograph shows damage caused by a V-1 flying bomb, that fell on Lower Thames Street, by Water Lane in the City of London. The bomb struck at 3.55am on 26 June 1944, injuring three people. In the centre of the photograph can be seen the east wing of the Customs House. Police Officers Arthur Cross and Fred Tibbs photographed the devastated street the following morning.
