Printed Ephemera — 1918
Playbill
Small playbill for the Old Vic, Season 1918-19 listing performances of 'The Merchant of Venice' and 'Cavalleria Rusticana'. Printed in blue and black ink. Baylis took over management from her aunt, Emma Cons. Under Baylis' management the Old Vic performed a complete run of Shakespeare plays, between 1914 and 1923. This bill includes theatre and opera at the same venue, but Baylis would later re-open Sadler's Wells and divide performances of theatre at the Old Vic, and opera and ballet at Sadler's Wells.
