Printed Ephemera — 1970-1974
Bag, paper bag
Bananas grow all year round in the Caribbean, so provide farmers with a regular income. The Jamaica Banana Producers' Association developed out of a co-operative established by three Jamaicans in 1929. The company was formed to protect the local banana growing industry from being monopolised by foreign owned companies. From the 1960s, the company exported thousands of bananas every year to the UK, still the largest market for Caribbean bananas.
