Fire mark
Fire marks were placed on the outside of buildings to indicate that the property was insured by a specific company. This mark was issued by the Newcastle Upon Tyne Fire Office established in 1783. It features the company's emblem which was based on the arms of Newcastle. The policy number is impressed on the panel below.
