Printed Ephemera — 1860-1880
To one whose love is earth's chief prize to me
Sample valentine's card comprising two separate sheets of light blue paper with applied decoration. One sheet is framed by a gilded and white lace paper border with an outer ruched light blue satin ribbon. The other sheet has similar applied decoration but the lace paper sheet also has a central panel which completely covers the blue under sheet. In the centre of this panel is a rectangle embossed with the gilded message 'To one whose love is earth's chief prize to me'. This sheet would form the front of card, the other sheet would form the back of the card.
