Social History — 1951
Spoon, caddy spoon
This commemorative tea caddy spoon is a souvenir of the Festival of Britain of 1951. On the handle there is the Festival Star symbol set out in enamel. Some Festival souvenirs were made out of surplus war scrap, such as aircraft aluminium. Luxury souvenir items such as caddies of tea and tins of biscuits were eagerly bought by visitors to the Festival who were tired of wartime austerity goods.
