Printed Ephemera — 1860
Card, valentine card
Valentine's card with a top sheet of white lace paper embossed with a leaf design, a statue of a male and cherub figures sitting on an archway surrounding a central panel of cotton net. Applied to the panel is a bouquet of pressed satin leaves and blue paper flowers and two embossed paper birds carrying rings in their beaks. Beneath the net can be seen floral garlands and the words 'Life's fairest lot be thine', handpainted on the inner sheet below. A sheet of pink paper inserted behind the lace paper enhances the design.
