This poster was designed by students at The London Chinese Community School in Lewisham. The school was established in 1982 to teach Chinese language and culture to refugee children from Vietnam. Existing Chinese classes in Chinatown were in Cantonese, but the Vietnamese spoke Mandarin Chinese. At first the classes were held on Saturdays in temporary accommodation. Student numbers increased and by 1998 the Vietnamese community had raised the money to build a new school and community centre.
