Card, valentine card
Valentine's card printed with a hand coloured engraving of cupid firing an arrow surrounded by a floral garland. Below is printed a six line love verse. Inside the card is handwritten a love poem of 34 lines, specifically composed for the recipient Eliza Hamilton. The back of the card acts as an envelope and includes the handwritten address 'Miss Eliza Hamilton Care of the Rev. Mr Brash, No 28 Richmond Street, Glasgow'. The envelope contains two post marks for 16th March 1839 and the remnants of a red wax seal.
