The Annual Irish Ballad Concert
This Irish ballad concert was held to celebrate St. Patrick’s Night. In the 1890s there was an Irish cultural revival. The London branch of the Gaelic League was the largest in the country and vigorously celebrated Irish presence in the capital. It ran a programme of Irish language and dancing classes, summer outings and festivals, Irish language plays, a fair to promote Irish products and St. Patrick's Day concerts. They took place at prime London venues attended by up to three thousand people.
