Printed Ephemera — 1860-1880
Come live with me and be my love
Handfinished valentine's card contained within an uncoloured lace paper envelope embossed with a floral design. The four flaps of the envelope open to reveal decoration within. This comprises a sheet of pink paper with an applied white lace paper border with embossed design, part gilded, incorporating figures, urns, flowers, birds, two swans and an archway surrounding a central panel of cream satin. Applied to the panel is a bouquet of embossed and coloured flowers and leaves tied with a gilded paper bow. Above is a blue paper cartouche printed 'Come live with me and be my love'.
