Printed Ephemera — 1840-1855
Mutual Love
Cobweb, beehive or flowercage valentine's card with a solid embossed lace border. In the centre is a lithographed floral bouquet cut into circular strips with a central cotton thread which, when pulled, raises the cut paper to produce a cobweb or cage effect. Below the cage is a lithographed roundel with an illustration of two doves holding a ring in their beaks above the motto 'Mutual Love'. Above and below the floral bouquet is printed an 8 line love verse.
