Robe, domino
The word 'domino' seems first to have been used for a cloak in England in 1719 (according to the OED). In 1736 it was defined as 'the habit of a Venetian nobleman, very much in use at our modern masquerades'. Fanny Burney in 'Early Journals and Letters' (1988) mentions a 'white sattin' Domino' in 1770.
