Saxon & Medieval — Late Medieval; 15th century
Boot
Small adult/child left foot ankle boot with a rounded toe and missing sole. The uppers are one-piece with an angled seam in the inner side and a front fastening of two (now missing) buckles. The throat has been further cut down the vamp towards the toe and the vamp is also cut horizontally across the toes. These may be a later modifications by a different owner. The heel stiffener is still in situ. The throat has stitch holes for the (now missing) tongue insert. There is a small strap loop below where the buckle would have been for the strap fastening to be tucked in; this is a 15th century feature.
