Card, valentine card
Handfinished valentine's card comprising layers of lace paper by Kershaw and Son. The top sheet comprises a silver and white lace paper border with a panel of net. An applied sheet of embossed and lace paper in the shape of a lyre and decoration applied to the gauze of a garland of embossed paper flowers and three coiled wires completes the lyre. Below is a garland of cotton flowers, dried grasses and paper leaves. The second lace paper sheet is heavily embossed with a design incorporating figures, foliage and flowers surrounding a plain roundel and a lower oval panel. Applied to the panel are paper hearts, a garland of paper leaves and shells surrounded by a wreath of cream satin leaves with two silver paper birds.
