The Down Train. "Caution"
Valentine's card comprising a top layer of white and silver lace paper heavily embossed with a garden scene. Applied to the sheet is paper printed 'The Down Train Caution' and a miniature envelope from which is protruding a folded imitation notice from a newspaper advertisement column printed 'Matrimonial Association established February 14th 186- Capital unlimited. A life ticket is offered for the acceptance of those that have a true and constant heart at their disposal'. Through the gauze can be seen a drawing is decorated with a paper train running along the track and a cameo embossed cut out paper image of two lovers embracing. Below the illustration is an applied paper scroll printed 'Will you venture the journey with me'.
