Printed Ephemera — 1856-1857
Alma Bomarsund Inkermann
Handfinished card commemorating the end of the Crimean War. Comprising a top sheet of silver and white lace paper embossed with medallions illustrating the harvesting process. The open central area is filled with a cream satin panel applied to which is a cotton wreath in the centre of which are woven the names of the battles 'Alma Bomarsund Inkermann'. The wreath is flanked by the flags of the allies woven in coloured silk thread. Above is a cotton scroll woven with the words 'France England Turkey'. The card is also decorated with an applied wreath of embossed and coloured paper leaves and flowers, in the style of a valentine's card
