Love - The Warrior's Return

Handfinished card comprising a top sheet of white and silver lace paper heavily embossed with an archway and border decoration incorporating flowers, pillars and cherub figures surrounding a central cream satin panel. Applied to the panel is a cotton gun cannon flanked by the four flags of the allies who fought in the Crimean War. Below is a smaller cream satin panel printed with a poem entitled 'The Warrior's Return' framed by a paper floral wreath. The card was probably produced ina s similar style to popular Valentine's cards to commemorate soldiers' return at the ending of the Crimean War.
