Printed Ephemera — 1872-1885
Card, valentine card
Quarto sized Valentine's card with embossed floral border and central handfinished coloured aquatint depicting a melancholic woman walking through the woods. Above and below the print is written a six line verse. The paper has the embossed maker's mark of J.King but the image was probably reprinted by King from a plate originally part of the 'Unrequited Love' or the 'Despondent Lover Set' published in the 1830's by Addenbrooke.
