Card, valentine card
Multi-layered, handfinished Valentine's card comprising three layers of embossed and lace paper with applied central decoration. The bottom layer comprises a silver lace paper border embossed with a design incorporating swans, a bridge and trees. The above two layers comprise two sheets of identical lace paper attached by a fold down the side. They have an embossed design incorporating shells, flowers and foliage. The middle sheet is attached to the bottom layer of the card by paper springs or hinges, this sheet is uncoloured. The top sheet is part painted silver. All three layers have an open central area revealing decoration applied to the inner or back sheet of the card. This comprises an oval shaped panel of white rice paper handpainted with a seaview and surrounded by a wreath of dried grasses, real shells and dried seaweed.
