London Bridge 1694
An illustration of old London Bridge, based on old drawings. From 'London: a Pilgrimage' by Blanchard Jerrold and Gustave Doré, 1872. Jerrold describes the old bridge: "It appears a grand mass of suggestive bits; and when the tournaments and processions enlivened the flood; and the state barges of the great, and the boats bearing prisoners to the Tower, streamed through its many narrow arches; and the windows and parapets were alive with citizens, it must have made a fine picture ready to the artist's pencil."
