Card, valentine card
Incomplete Valentine's card comprising two layers of lace paper attached by folded paper springs or hinges to give a 3 dimensional effect. The under sheet comprises a white border with embossed tree decoration surrounding an applied satin panel handpainted with a sailing ship at sea. The ship's galley is formed from a piece of applied handpainted paper which has windows that open to reveal faces handpainted on the satin panel below. The top sheet comprises a silver and white lace paper border with embossed design incorporating flowers, cupid figures and foliage. The top part of the central area represents a lace paper curtain with silver, scalloped edge and embossed flower decoration. Applied to this is a small paper scrap printed with a love verse. The top layer also has two applied garlands of embossed paper leaves and flowers.
