Illustration showing a horse auction held at the Derby, by Tattersall's. Taken from the book 'London: a Pilgrimage' by Blanchard Jerrold and Gustave Doré, 1872. Tattersall's was founded by Richard Tattersall in 1766 and it continues as an auctioneer of thoroughbred horses to the present day.
