Printed Ephemera — 1860-1875
Card, valentine card
Handfinished Valentine's card comprising two identical layers of lace paper embossed with a design incorporating a church flanked by trees, flowers and foliage. The central roundel of the top panel is filled with a panel of cotton net flanked by two embossed paper birds. The layer below is decorated by a bouquet of fabric flowers and embossed paper leaves applied to the plain central panel. When the card is closed this bouquet can be seen through the cotton net panel of the top layer.
