Printed Ephemera — 1860-1880
With Parental Affection
Handfinished Valentine's card comprising a sheet of lace paper, part painted silver and lavishly embossed with an arrangement of figures, steps, urns, vases, flowers and fountain surrounding an open central roundel. Applied to the inner sheet a colour paper illustration of a nursing goat. Above is handwritten 'With parental affection'. When the card is closed this decoration is revealed through the open panels of the top sheet.
