Printed Ephemera — 1855-1879
My heart beats for thee
Handfinished Valentine's card formed from two layers of lace paper. Comprising a sheet of green lace paper by Wood embossed with flower and bird design surrounding a central oval panel. Applied on top is a layer of lilac lace paper embossed with flowers, birds and cupid figure. The two layers are attached by paper springs or hinges to give a three dimensional effect. Applied to the central panel of the under layer is a cut out embossed white paper image of a church flanked by trees. The card is also decorated with an applied floral garland and a paper scrap printed 'My heart beats for thee'.
