Printed Ephemera — 1841-1859
From an Affectionate Friend
Handfinished Valentine's card comprising a sheet of blue lace paper, cameo embossed with images of a a woman leaning out of a window, flower wreaths and a bird cage. The two adjacent open panels on the card have applied decoration. The left hand panel has an applied piece of plain white paper with embossed silver frame printed 'From an Affectionate Friend'. Applied to the right hand panel a roundel of rice paper handpainted with an image of a urn positioned within a field.
