The Right Noble Charles Marquis of Rockingham, Earl of Malton, Viscount Highham of Higham Ferrers
Charles Watson-Wentworth, 2nd Marquis of Rockingham etc, 1730-1782, a Whig, was briefly Prime Minister twice (1765-1766 when he repealed the Stamp Acts and resisted making grants to the king's brothers, precipitating his dismissal and 1782). He supported independence for the American colonies and partial enfranchisement of Roman Catholics. By Sir J. Reynolds.
