Printed Ephemera — 1860-1880
Card, valentine card
Valentine's card composed of two layers of identical white lace paper sheets with applied decoration. The undersheet is unfinished as a black and white sketch on tissue paper applied to the central panel of the sheet comprises a rough version showing how the card would be decorated. It includes the text 'E'er I tie the nuptial band Sign this with your pretty hand. Here do I affix my hans and seal'. The top sheet is part gilded and has a central oval area to which is applied a cut out paper basket filled with paper and embossed coloured flowers.
