Printed Ephemera — 1860-1880
This little tribute which I send. I hope you will receive and keep it for the sake of one who never will deceive
Layered lace paper valentine's card with applied decoration. Comprising a white under sheet with a rectangular shaped central panel and white lace paper border. Applied to the panel a paper cut out illustration showing cupid seated within a pink rose. The illustration is framed by a wreath of white cotton, embossed silver paper and green metal foil tinsel leaves. A top layer of pink lace paper embossed with a flower and leaf design is attached by paper hinges. This has an open oval shaped central panel framed by an additional lace paper border painted green and gold. Also decorated with a paper scrap printed 'This little tribute which I send. I hope you will receive and keep it for the sake of one who never will deceive'.
