Love - Hope
Valentine's card formed from layers of embossed and lace paper with applied decoration.The top layer is of gilded lace paper embossed with white flower design and cut to represent columns and archways with two central doors. Two double sided folded flaps each end open to reveal applied decoration beneath as do the two central doors which are closed by a cream satin bow handpainted 'Love's Hope'. Beneath the two flaps are paper cut out images of cupid shielding behind a postman and a paper cut out of a maiden applied behind the gilded flowers. Behind these areas are two white lace paper panels cut to represent windows and curtains. Behind the central doors is a paper panel handpainted with a rural scene of a river, bridge and farm. The top sheet is stamped 'Mansell'.
