Wilt thou be mine
Valentine's card of embossed lace paper layers with applied decoration. Comprising a top layer of silver lace paper embossed with figures of cupid, angels, flowers and shells. This sheet has an open centre revealing the applied decoration below. The under layer has a white lace paper border embossed with flowers and rosettes. In the centre is a cream satin panel to which is applied a bouquet of white fabric flowers with silver leaves and a white cotton bow.
Victorian Valentine's cards like this could be made from commercially-produced papers. Paper lace was a popular card base and printed scraps would be added to adorn and personalise the cards.
