Printed Ephemera — 1845-1880
Card, valentine card
Valentine's card of lace paper with applied decoration. Comprising a silver lace paper border with fancy edging and a central panel of cream cotton netting. Applied to the centre is a paper flower bouquet. The inside of the card is printed with the words 'I hope to make thee mine'. This shows through the cotton netting when the card is closed. Presumably a sample card commissioned by J.King as inside the card has been stuck an extract of a handwritten price list listing items used in the manufacture of valentines cards.
