Card, valentine card
Valentine's card of embossed lace paper with applied decoration. With an outer border of light green lace paper with flower decoration. The central panel is of cream cotton netting. With applied decoration of a central coloured paper scrap printed 'love is gentle, love is kind, love's the solace of the mind' framed by a silver and white flower embossed border. The card is finished with a garland of embossed and coloured paper flowers.
Victorian Valentine's cards like this could be made from commercially-produced papers. Paper lace was a popular card base and printed scraps would be added to adorn and personalise the cards.
