Card, valentine card
Valentine's card of embossed and lace paper with applied decoration. Comprising a gilded and lilac lace paper border embossed with four cupid figures and applied with an arrangement of fabric flowers and foliage and paper birds. The open central panel is filled with a piece of cream satin fabric.
Victorian Valentine's cards like this could be made from commercially-produced papers. Paper lace was a popular card base and printed scraps would be added to adorn and personalise the cards.
