Come dwell with me
Valentine's card with outer cover composed of a gilded lace paper border embossed with flower decoration revealing decoration applied to inside. This decoration comprises a central coloured paper illustration of Cupid fishing and a paper scrap printed 'Come dwell with me'. Above the image is applied a garland of embossed, coloured paper flowers and leaves.
Victorian Valentine's cards like this could be made from commercially-produced papers. Paper lace was a popular card base and printed scraps would be added to adorn and personalise the cards.
