Card, valentine card
Valentine's card with gilded lace paper edge embossed with scallop shell pattern. In the central rectangular shaped panel is applied a coloured paper bird on a nest framed from a garland of embossed & coloured paper flowers & leaves. Inside are applied to two sheets of paper printed with verse 'How to build a Happy Home'.
Victorian Valentine's cards like this could be made from commercially-produced papers. Paper lace was a popular card base and printed scraps would be added to adorn and personalise the cards.
