Card, valentine card

Valentine's card with plain central panel and white lace paper border painted silver. In the centre is applied an arrangement of embossed and coloured paper flowers and foliage decorated with a pink bow. With a handwritten motto 'True Affection'. Inside is a handwritten dedication 'There is a lip of ruby dye; A cheek of roseate glow, There is a piercing azure eye, A bosom pure as snow! Dearest, they are thine. But there's a lip of paler hue, A cheek with anguish worn; An eye that weeps in vain for you, A heart with sorrow torn; Dearest they are thine'.

The card includes several popular Valentine's motifs of its time: floral arrangements; images of cupid and images of birds.
