Printed Ephemera — 1860
Card, valentine card
Valentine's card comprised of a single sheet of lace paper painted silver with applied garland of fabric and grasses with coloured paper leaves and flowers. In the centre are stuck four white paper pages with decorative gilded edging entitled 'Cupid's Pocket Book 1860'. The first page is handwritten and entitled 'Appointments' Feb 14 Post a Valentine to Miss I hope to receive one from her on this day'. The next sheet entitled 'Correspondence' is handwritten 'Dear this simple tribute receive, and believe I love thee sincerely'. The final sheet has an applied coloured image of a church and handwritten 'Memorandum A Place I hope shortly to take a lady into, to become my dear wife'.
