Printed Ephemera — 1865-1900
Card, valentine card
Valentine's card comprising a single sheet of pink card with a decorative edging. In the centre is stuck an outline of a spoon and the card is printed with the verse 'Your silly face, has just about The expression of a loon, Your brains, to judge you by your talk are shallow as a Spoon. Among your friends I've often heard You called a little luney, But I believe a better phrase Would be to call you spooney'. Although love was a dominant theme for Valenine's cards, insulting and comic cards were also common.
