Mr E.F. Saville as Capt Jack Sheppard
Handcoloured theatrical souvenir print engraved with a portrait of the actor Mr E.F.Saville in the role of Captain Jack Sheppard. The portrait has been cut from a paper sheet and mounted onto card handpainted with background scenery. The portrait is embellished with metal foil tinsel ornaments notably on the weapons and dress accessories. The clothing is of silk and cotton. Such portraits would have been sold plain for colouring and tinselling at home. The style of the background scenery implies the portrait was sold by John Redington.
