Printed Ephemera — 1914
Guide
Official guide for the Anglo-American Exposition held at White City, Shepherd's Bush, in 1914. The programme cost 6d, and the cover depicts an American and a British sailor hoisting their respective national flags. The exhibition symbolised the close relationship between Britain and America. It included an enormous scale-model of the newly opened Panama Canal in Central America, which connects the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. The exhibition was staged by Imre Kiralfy, who created the showground at White City from 1907 to host international and imperial exhibitions.
