Printed Ephemera — 1836-1855
Clown
Small handcoloured theatrical souvenir print engraved with a portrait of a clown, possibly Grimaldi. The portrait has been cut out and stuck on card handcoloured with background scenery. The portrait has been embellished with metal foil tinsel ornaments and the clothing is of silk. Such prints would have been sold plain as theatrical souvenirs for colouring and tinselling at home.
