Printed Ephemera — 1850-1872
Miss E. Daly as the Ladies Highwayman
Handcoloured theatrical souvenir plate engraved entitled Miss E. Daley in the role of the Ladies Highwayman. The portrait has been embellished with metal foil tinsel ornaments notably on the weapons and dress accessories. Silk and cotton cloth has been applied for the clothing. The portrait has been cut out from a paper sheet and stuck on a piece of card handcoloured with background scenery. Such portraits would have been sold plain as theatrical souvenirs for colouring and tinselling at home. Coloured and sold wholesale and retail by J.Redington at his Theatrical Print Play & Tinsel Warehouse and by J.King (Somers Town).
