Mrs West as Ann Bradford
Handcoloured theatrical souvenir plate engraved with a portrait of the actress Mrs West in the role of Ann Bradford. Published 1834 the handcoloured background scenery is entitled Ann Bradford parting with her children and soldirs commanded to fire upon Bradford. Such sheets would have been sold plain as theatrical souvenirs for colouring and tinselling at home.
Mrs W. West built an early reputation for comic parts, but was later renowned for her tragic performances. She was an established actress when she married Mr West, a composer and comedian. They worked in Edinburgh and Bath before she returned to the London stage.
