Mr Cobham as Richard 1st
Handcoloured theatrical portrait plate engraved with a portrait of the actor Mr Cobham in the role of Richard I in the production of Knights of the Cross. Published by the partnership of Arthur Park (Old Street) and J.Golding (Oakley Street) such sheets were sold as theatrical souvenirs.
Cobham played Richard I in the Knights of the Cross at the Pavilion Theatre, in Whitechapel. The play opened on the 1st of November 1830, and playbills boasted that 'Mr Wood's celebrated dog, Bruin will appear'.
