Drinking glass, wine glass, Jacobite portrait glass
Small wine glass with an enamel portrait of Prince Charles Edward Stuart ('Bonnie Prince Charlie') wearing a flat blue bonnet with rosette. Glasses of this type are assumed to indicate support for the Jacobite cause. Enamel decoration has been associated with glasses made on Tyneside. This particular glass was bought by Sir Richard Garton in 1930 at the sale of the Hamilton Clements collection.
