Irish Division
'Irish Division', Street scene: two Irishmen argue over the division of a purse of money one has found; the finder offers the other the purse, while he keeps the money. Onlookers look on in mirth. These include a boy chimney sweep, a woman with a basket of vegetables on her head, and two men in the doorway of a public house: "The Bird in Hand by Pat Connolly - Whitbread's Intire . . ." There is a coloured version in the British Museum (1948,0214.724)
The credit line at the bottom of the print has been scratched out. BM copy reads: "Published Jan 1 1807 by Kaygill, Windmill Street, Tottenham Court Road / Price 6d"
